We take a business development approach to generating a domain-specific candidate pool, first targeting geographical communities close to the location of the open position, and expanding outward as necessary. We leverage an extensive network developed over many years with venture capital and life science companies, presenting our client companies to prime candidates, and giving our client companies right of first refusal. The Sonder Group is based in greater Boston, one of the deepest wells of technological and scientific talent in the world, but the cohort of prime candidates from which we draw is global.
The search is refined by the use of the first batch of candidates as templates for discussion. Our bias is toward sharp domain and/or market expertise: candidates who can deliver immediate value while decreasing investor risk. We carefully manage the interview process, using our own domain knowledge and leveraging our networks to confirm each candidate’s qualifications, suitability, and background of accomplishment. We stay involved to ensure seamless transition for the new hire.
